Many of the trails are open to the public for training before the event. Refer to the interactive course maps if you wish to organise a training run on course. Please note that the section around The Landings at North Turrumurra on Bobbin Head Road is private property and off-limits. You can use adjacent public roads (Bobbin Head Road – Du Faur Street – Kirkpatrick Street – Murrua Road) to avoid The Landings during training.  If you need help planning a training run, send us an email to so we can suggest the best locations to access the course.

Training for a race like the Jabulani Challenge is completely different to the type of plan you would follow for a road race. With rocky terrain, technical single track, fire trails, creek crossings, bushland and steep hill inclines, you need to incorporate a whole range of different running techniques and specific training exercises to ensure you have a great race.

Whether you are a seasoned athlete or new to trail running, these training plans will incorporate everything you need to get stronger, improve your mobility and increase your mileage at a safe rate so you can have a great race, without injuring yourself along the way.

The 12 Week Plan includes race specific training  at beginner, intermediate and advanced levels.  It s available to purchase up until Wednesday 29th May 2024.

What To Expect in the Race Training Phase (12 weeks)

  • We teach you Trail Running Techniques so you can power up the hills and flow down them with ease.
  • Nutrition advice on how to fuel your body during training and on race day.
  • Two strength workouts a week, designed to support your training load, build endurance, and prevent injuries.
  • A weekly plan you can print out and stick on the fridge to ensure you stay on track.
  • Training options for beginner, intermediate and advanced runners.
  • Access to our online running community, with hundreds of other runners, to keep you motivated.

How To Purchase the Training Plans

Training plans can be ordered when you enter the event or added to your entry at a later date. Once you complete your purchase, Mark Green from The Body Mechanic will be in touch within one week of purchasing your Training Plan to provide access to The Locker Room and your training plan.

To access your entry registration and add the training plan simply:

  • Head to Active and log in to your account with your username and password.
  • Select your ‘Jabulani Challenge’ event registration and from there you will be able to manage your registration and add purchases to your entry.

Alternatively, you can purchase the training plan directly at The Locker Room and you will receive instant access to The Locker Room resource and your training plan. You may then purchase your Jabulani Challenge event entry separately.
