Training for a race like the Jabulani Challenge is completely different to the type of plan you would follow for a road race. With rocky terrain, technical single track, fire trails, creek crossings, bushland and steep hill inclines, you need to incorporate a whole range of different running techniques and specific training exercises to ensure you have a great race.

Whether you are a seasoned athlete or new to trail running, this 12 week plan will incorporate everything you need to get stronger, improve your mobility and increase your mileage at a safe rate so you can have a great race, without injuring yourself along the way.

The 12-week Jabulani Challenge Training plan includes a lot more than just miles! You will get;

  • A comprehensive week by week training guide specific to all distances – 12km, 22km, 45km
  • A strength program to build stability and strength for longer distances and technical trails
  • A mobility program to improve your natural range of motion
  • Techniques and drills to improve your running on all types of terrains
  • Access to a private online community, including personal online training advice
  • Get to know other entrants and meet some training buddies along the way

Advice Every Step Of The Way

New training content is sent to you every week, to keep you on track. The content will include, daily workouts, weekly kilometres, advice on running technique and easy to follow videos to ensure you learn the right techniques, avoid injury and turn up to the start line, race ready.

Most runners have a weak core, they just don’t know it.  Everyone that signs up for the 12-week training program will receive FREE the “Essential Core Stability Workout For Runners” designed by sports physio, Mark Green.  Follow this 10 minute video workout, 3 times a week and reap the rewards during training and on race day.

How to Sign Up

Purchase the training program through the Jabulani Challenge registration system when you enter the race. You can also add the Training Plan to your order post entry by heading to www.active.com and logging in to your account with your username and password. Select ‘MyEvents’ from the name drop down box (top left) once logged in. Select your ‘Jabulani Challenge’ event registration and from there you will be able to manage your registration and add other purchases (training program) to your order.
