Bobbin Head is a large area offering lots of attractions and facilities. As well as being a great place to bushwalk, paddle or go fishing, Bobbin Head is the perfect waterfront picnic spot. The area features barbecues, picnic tables, shelters, plenty of green space, and a children’s playground that’s sure to be a hit with kids.

transport & parking

The Jabulani Challenge features an early start for all runners, so please allow yourself plenty of time to arrive and settle in on the morning of the event.

Runners should also be aware of the National Park opening and closing times and be aware that there is no overnight stays available at Bobbin Head including for caravans and campers.

Runners are encouraged to use public transport (we recommend checking Trip Planner for the most accurate and up to date information), as an alternative to driving to the event.

A shuttle bus has been arranged for those wishing to use public transport to travel to the event. If you haven’t done so already, please book in your seats before race day by going to your Jabulani Challenge registration in your MyEvents portal. To book your seats you need to go to the merchandise tab and you can then select the shuttle transfer. There is a charge of $5 per seat for the bus transfer. Please select the correct number of seats required as this will impact the bus charter service capacity.

The bus will pick up from Rohini St Bus Bay at Turramurra Train Station at 6am, 7am and 8am. The bus will then drop you directly to the event centre in plenty of time to register and prepare for the start of your event.

Once runners have completed the event, the shuttle bus will conduct runs back to Turramurra Train Station as required. Turramurra Train station has regular services in both the morning and during the afternoon so you will never be waiting long for a connecting service.

Please take care on the narrow and twisting road to Bobbin Head from both North Turramurra and Mt Ku-Ring-Gai when driving to the Start & Finish. Both access roads to the Start & Finish are very popular with cyclists, take special care when passing cyclists.

Please give yourself plenty of time to get to the event centre, particularly if you are running in the 22km or 12km event. We strongly encouraged you to car pool with fellow runners to help reduce congestion.

Parking at Bobbin Head is limited and will fill-up quickly. Please follow the directions of parking marshals and be courteous of other users as parking is shared with the general public. Signage will be in place reserving some car parking spaces for non-event participants. Runners are asked to please respect these signs and not use these spaces on race morning.

Overflow parking is available at Apple Tree Bay where you can either walk the short distance back to the Event Centre, or catch the event parking shuttle bus that will be running between Apple Tree Bay and the Event Centre.

PLEASE NOTE: The $12 National Park entry fee is NOT included in your race entry fee. You must pay this at the toll booth when you enter the park or at one of the parking machines in the park. Rangers patrol parking areas regularly.

accommodation & food

Please note overnight stays are not permitted within the National Park at Bobbin Head, this includes caravans and campers. If you are looking for accommodation for the event you will need to consider options outside the park.

Food and coffee are available from two cafes located within a short walk from the event centre. The  Bobbin Inn Café and the Waterside Bistro within Empire Marina.
